We had a fabulous 4 days of dance workshops, panel discussions and scholarships with leading vocational schools and special guests at our yearly AYD100 event; held at Arts Ed School from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th October.
With 58 young people from African and Caribbean Heritage in attendance, it was incredible to see them excel, meet new people and share their passion with each other. The event culminated with over 80 scholarships awarded, worth over £120,000 to train on both short and long term courses at some of the UK's leading vocational schools; standing testament to the young people's hard-work, undeniable talent and most importantly joy for dance.
My ultimate favourite time is this time of year. I love to join this course made possible by you. Artistry has involved me and my sister on many occasions and when these classes are on it truly brings us all together as an extended family of special people. I truly love it with all my heart, we learn so much from amazing teachers and from each other, my only dislike is saying goodbye at the end. (Teyarnie, 13)
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that made AYD100 possible this year, including:

Thank you to Arts Ed for hosting AYD100, all the teachers, our guest panelists Brenda Garrett-Glassman, Ingrid Mackinnon, Bianca Durand and Valerie Ebuwa, the assistants, photographers, videographers, the AYD Team and all the young people that made it an unforgettable 4 days.
It was an incredible experience, and I got to not only experience new styles of dance, but I got to meet new people and people who I can relate to! (Margaret, 18)
The aim of AYD100 is for young black dancers to have a better knowledge of available training routes in dance and performing arts. We are passionate about empowering young people through creative dance development. As a Company leading the way in creating opportunities for young black dancers, we are committed to developing the next generation of black dance artists and nurturing a more culturally diverse dance community in the UK.
I've grown more as a person and as a dancer. I’m leaving this experience knowing what I need to work on and how to do it and I’ve come out of here more confident in myself and ready and hungry to grow and improve. (Ricardo, 19)
We are already looking forward to next years AYD100... see you there!
