Dancers finish off the year in elegance and style
On Sunday 20th July, the dancers had the chance to show off what they have been working on during the year at the informal 'Watching Day'. Parents, friends and special guests enjoyed the dancers as they performed an excerpt from their ballet classes (including the hilarious ballet 'dance off') prepared by ballet teacher, Leila Jelassi. The audience then enjoyed the timeless piece 'No Woman No Cry', followed by the emotional contemporary piece 'Strings', choreographed by Gerrard Martin. The afternoon finished with the uptempo jazz number, 'Spirit'. Dancers were presented with certificates acknowledging their commitment to Artistry Youth Dance and the honour of 'Dancer of the Year' was shared by two worthy recipients, Rose Mason and Imani Noveal.
Special guest, Namron, OBE, had this to say about the event "..a most extraordinary and lovely afternoon... I love it."
Here's to the Summer break and I look forward to seeing everyone again in September! Well done everyone!
